What is Pilates?
Imagine an exercise program you look forward to, that engages you, and leaves you refreshed and alert with a feeling of physical and mental well-being.  The Pilates Method (pronounced puh-LAH- teez) will do this and more.

The Pilates method is a well-known movement system which has a proven successful track record of creating health and well-being for over 70 years.  It was developed in the 1920s by the legendary Joseph Hubertus Pilates as 'Contrology'; or the art of control. 

It emphasises centering, concentration, control, precision, breathing and flowing movement.  Pilates is a movement system focused on improving flexibility and strength for the total body without building bulk. It engages your body and mind! 

Pilates can be pracitsed in two ways - free body exercises on the mat, or on specifically designed exercise apparatus.
